Dolly Parton was born on January 19th, 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other kids. The vivid imagination of her mother allowed her to escape the harsh realities of everyday life. Before she could read and write she was making up her own songs. At the age of 8, she got her first guitar. In the age of 11 when she was 11, she began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. The same year she made her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. When she was still in highschool she garnered a name in the local music scene but was always dreaming of a larger stage. After graduating from high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. The first charting record she had for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated television show host was at the time looking for a woman to sing in his show. Parton accepted the role in 1966. She then joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. The show ended in 1974, as her own albums like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. The two split in 1974, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it made it to number. In 1974, the track by Parton I Will Always Love You peaked at No.
