Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and community service. The first line of his family was that Selmon is the eldest of the nine children raised within Eufala with Lucious Selmon. In second football, he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. During his three years as the Oklahoma's quarterback of choice, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. In 1975, he was awarded his third scholarship, and was named an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth time of service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during college. After graduation, Lee Roy settled in Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing for the Buccaneers. Three times, he was selected All-Pro. He began his business career. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. No wonder that in 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce named him as one of the country's 10 outstanding young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds when he was a student athlete. He played for the team of 1975. He was promoted to the athletic director's assistant at University of South Florida. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
